The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will kick-off voters’ registration for the 2015 mid-term elections on Monday, February 12, dubbed Araw ng Botante.

New voter registrants are urged to register early, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Thursday, February 8.

Voter registration will be from February 12 to September 30, except on March 28, 29 and 30 (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday).

The Comelec expects 200,000 new voter registrants in Negros Occidental for the 2025 polls.

Registrants must bring government identification cards to register, he said.

The Comelec Register Anywhere Program (RAP) will be launched at a registration fair to be attended by all the election officers of Negros Occidental at SM City Bacolod on February 23, he said.

The RAP allows qualified Filipinos to register as voters anywhere nationwide without going back to their place of residence. This program addresses the concern of those who are currently away from their place of residence due to employment, school, and other reasons but would like to register as a voter in the same without the need to physically go there, the Comelec said.

The RAP is being implemented at capital and highly urbanized cities, which in the case of Negros Occidental will be conducted in Bacolod City, Ananoria said.*
