‘Vote for Philippine Ironman team 7 a.m. Friday, help local NGO’

The last stretch of the Ironman Asia Pacific virtual reality race will start at 7 a.m. Friday, May 21, and leading the Philippine team is a Negrense battling to win the top prize to help a Negros-based foundation feed thousands of undernourished children.

The winning team will win $5,000 to be given to its charity of choice.

The public can add extra points to the Philippine team, led by Negrense Ines Santiago, by voting for it online during the race.

The Philippine team has chosen the Negrense Volunteers for Change as its charity-of-choice for the prize money which is equivalent to 40,000 Mingo Meals, NVC president Millie Kilayko said.

Kilayko is urging the public to vote for the Philippine team by going to https://www.facebook.com/IRONMANnow/videos/468318764461885/ at 7 a.m. Friday.

“As they enter the raise tomorrow, the Philippine Team and the Japan Team lead, but they are tied for the first place,” she said.

“Social media votes will matter, although of course speed and distance of the team is a major component,” Kilayko said.*
