Vegetable vendor dies in Valladolid mishap

A senior citizen vegetable vendor died after he was hit by a motorcycle at the highway in Brgy. Mabini, Valladolid, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Loreto Sandico, 72, of Barangay Mabini died after he was hit by a motorcycle driven by Jerald Ayala, 23, a delivery boy from Purok Malabi, Brgy. Crossing Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.

Valladolid Police Station spokesperson, Capt. Bonifacio Galvez, told DIGICAST NEGROS that the victim was crossing the Pulupandan-Valladolid boundary road when the suspect hit him.

The victim sustained an injury on his head. The driver also had injuries on his head and body.

Sandico was brought to the Valladolid District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival while the suspect was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Galvez said that as of press time, the driver of the motorcycle was in a coma due to serious injuries.*
