A senior citizen died when a wingvan sideswiped his tricycle in Brgy. Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Monday, Feb. 24.
Marcelino Largo, 62, of Brgy. Hagtu, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, died after his tricycle was hit by a wing van driven by Reynaldo Obligado, 43, of Sitio Maagay, Inarawan, Antipolo City.
Both vehicles came from Brgy. Camingawan and were headed for Mabinay when the wingvan attempted to overtake the tricycle which was at the outer lane of the road, the police said..
The victim was thrown off the tricycle on impact causing serious injuries. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital due to head injuries.
The suspect is under police custody and the family of the victim have agreed to a settlement with Obligado, the police said.*
