Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez*
The P300 million budget intended for the construction of three floodgates in Bacolod City will be restored by the national government, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Benitez said it was removed from the budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways, so he sought the help of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
He informed the president that the amount was necessary to solve the flooding problem in Bacolod and he assured that he will find ways to restore the amount, Benitez said.
Benitez said he was informed by the Department of Public Works and Highways regional director for the Negros Island Region that a push for the restoration of the fund was already underway.
Benitez expects that the P300 million for the floodgates will be allocated this year.*
