Javi joins opening of Visayas’ first eco-friendly smelting plant

Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez joined the opening of the Songhua Smelting Oil-Based Lubricants Manufacturing OPC, the first eco-sustainable smelting plant in the Visayas Region at Hda. Josefina, Barangay XXI, Victorias City, on Tuesday, February 25.

Songhua Manufacturing focuses on the production of waste tires which are converted to tire oil and used for factories that have bunker, burners, etc., a press release from the Victorias City government said.

The company uses a  sustainable manufacturing process called pyrolysis, a thermal decomposition method used to convert waste tires into useful products such as tire oil, carbon black, steel wire, and gas, it said.

This is an eco-friendly solution to manage tire waste while producing valuable resources, the press release said.

Benitez said he  is proud of this recent investment in Victorias and looks forward to more sustainable investment opportunities for the city.

Councilors Derek Palanca, Audie Malaga, Dino Acuña, Teresita Bartolome, and Hermie Millan also joined the event. *
