An unidentified man was found dead in the waters off Carmen Shoal in Brgy. Tiglawigan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The Philippine Coast Guard spotted the body floating near the shoreline, according to a report from the Cadiz City Police Station.
A barangay official reported the discovery to police at around 1:45 p.m., prompting investigators to proceed to the area.
The man, who was wearing a black shirt and black shorts, was brought to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic for examination.
A medical officer determined the cause of death to be asphyxia due to drowning and noted that the body was already in a state of decomposition.
Police said no signs of foul play were observed during the initial examination.
The Cadiz City Police Station is coordinating with nearby police stations to establish the man’s identity.*
