A 26-year-old motorcycle rider was killed after hitting construction materials along the national highway in Brgy. Refugio, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Sunday night, Sept. 27.
Police identified the victim as alias Kiboy, a resident of Brgy. Rizal, San Carlos City.
Initial investigation showed that Kiboy was traveling toward San Carlos City at around 7:40 p.m. when his motorcycle hit a sack of gravel and a warning device placed along the roadside for ongoing construction.
He lost control of the motorcycle, which swerved and skidded for approximately 55 meters, throwing him onto the road.
Kiboy sustained a severe head injury and injuries to other parts of his body.
Personnel of the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought him to the Calatrava District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police received the report at around 8:05 p.m. and dispatched a traffic investigator and five traffic enforcers to the scene.*
