An uncle of a barangay captain candidate was apprehended on suspicion of allegedly planning to buy votes in Sitio Nasunugan, Brgy. Batuan, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, Sunday afternoon, October 29.
The 59-year-old man onboard a motorcycle was arrested after allegedly evading concerned citizens who attempted to flag him down while he carried suspected cash and sample ballots, a police report said.
The concerned citizens chased and intercepted him and recovered a green transparent plastic container with 52 sample ballots and cash worth P26,000, the report added.
The suspect was referred to the San Enrique Police Station for proper disposition.*
