Two NPA brothers surrender in NegOr

Two brothers who claimed to be members of the New People’s Army surrendered to the Army and the police in Brgy Nagbinlod, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, on Wednesday, June 15.

They were identified only as Ka Daniel and Ka Aguilos who joined the NPA in 2015 and 2021, respectively, in Sta. Catalina, the 3rd Infantry Spearhead Division reported.

On June 10 a couple who were formerly members of the NPA also surrendered in Sta. Catalina and reunited with their 1 year old son. The couple confirmed the identities of the two siblings as members of the terrorist group, the Army said.

There are now six NPA members who have surrendered in the 3ID Area of Responsibility since May 23.

MGen. Benedict Arevalo, 3rd ID commander, said they will continue to reach out to the rebels who want to surrender.

“The six surrenderees will be living witnessess to the government’s sincerity in giving former rebels another chance to live normal lives”, Arevalo said.*
