Ten individuals, including seven Hinoba-an festival dancers, were injured when their canter truck fell on its side in Brgy. Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, at about 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, April 15.

They were on their way home after performing in the “Best of Festival Dances” competition at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City Tuesday night.

Authorities said the truck was carrying a total of 10 passengers, including the driver.

Police investigation showed the driver attempted to overtake but the vehicle ahead suddenly stopped.

The truck then swerved to the opposite lane, hit the railings, and fell on its side.

The group reportedly left Bacolod at around 4 a.m. onboard the multipurpose truck owned by Brgy. Po-ok.

Hinoba-an Mayor Daph Reliquias said all passengers are out of danger and only sustained minor injuries.

They were brought to Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial Hospital, where all were treated as outpatients.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old female Hinoba-an dancer fell off the stage at the Panaad Stadium and was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelbano Memorial Regional Hospital for an MIR for possible spinal injuries, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

The incident happened after the group had performed, he said.*
