Guv issues EO extending AL2, increasing air travel
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson issued an executive order Friday, November 12, extending the COVID-19 Alert Level 2 status of Negros Occidental until November 30.Executive Order 21-51, Series of 2021 also grants an increase in air travel between the National Capital Region and Negros Occidental starting Monday, November 15, since both are classified under Alert Level 2 and the demand for flights are high.The EO states that one flight per day per airline for the Manila-Bacolod-Manila route will be allowed.All modes of transportation will also be allowed to bring passengers to and from the airport, but minimum public health standards prescribed by the Department of Health should be strictly enforced, the EO added.Fully vaccinated individuals will be required to present an S-PaSS – a...

CLMMRH creates Covid-19 critical care unit at West Tower
The whole sixth floor of the West Tower at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City has been converted into a critical care unit for COVID-19 patients, Dr. Julius Drilon, CLMMRH chief, said Friday, November 12.This is because there are many more patients needing COVID-19 intensive care, he said.The CCU on the 6th floor of the West Tower can accommodate 23 more critical patients, he said.The hospital has 30 COVID-19 critical unit beds, he added.Drilon said the hospital has added 47 Intensive Care Unit nurses, more doctors and support personnel.CLMMRH can also accommodate critical patients if they choose to have private accommodations, Drilon added.*

NFSP urges price cap, fertilizer importation
Amid the uncontrolled increases in fertilizer prices, the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters (NFSP) is calling on the government to impose a price cap or import fertilizer directly and sell them at lower cost to the farmers.“In coordination with Department of Trade and Industry, perhaps the DA can impose a price cap or Suggested Retail Price for fertilizers,” said NFSP president Enrique D.
