Swine prices increase: PVO

The average price of breeding swine has increased by P5.83 per kilo in the six live auction markets in Negros Occidental, a Provincial Veterinary Office report on Friday, Dec. 20 showed.

The breeding swine price was at P160.83/kilo on Dec. 16, which is P5.83 higher compared to the previous provincial average on Dec. 9 which was at P155, the PVO reported.

The slaughter swine price also increased by P2.5/kilo, from P169.17 to P171.67 on Dec. 16.

PVO records also showed that other livestock being sold at the auction market have had stable prices for two weeks in a row.

These include carabaos which were at P176.67/kilo for breeding and P186.67/kilo for slaughter, cattle at P179.17/kilo for breeding and P190/kilo for slaughter, and goats at P184.17/kilo for breeding and P197.50/kilo for slaughter.

Meanwhile, the average price of beef in the province increased by P0.14/kilo and pork by P0.42/kilo.

The PVO report said the average price of carabeef in Escalante and Kabankalan is at P450/kilo, the highest in the province, while E.B. Magalona had the lowest at P350/kilo.

Beef prices in Kabankalan, Ilog, and Sipalay were at P450, while in Toboso it was P320/kilo.

Pork prices in Hinigaran were at P370/kilo, while in Toboso is was P250/kilo.

Chevon or goat meat price was highest in cities of San Carlos and Sagay at P500/kilo while in Escalante, Bago, La Carlota, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Hinigaran, Binalbagan, and Himamaylan it was at P450/kilo.

Dressed chicken prices in Victorias are at P240/kilo and at P180/kilo in E.B. Magalona.

Average prices of eggs at the market have been consistent since Dec. 9 with small sizes at P8.58/piece, medium at P9.24, large at P9.82, extra-large at P10.50, salted at P16.77, balut at P30.79, the PVO reported.*
