About 100 Gender and Development stakeholders will convene at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City next week for the sharing of sex dis-aggregated data by selected provincial government offices and national government agencies, Provincial GAD Action Officer Marie June Pavillar-Castro said Thursday, Sept. 10.
Dubbed as “Because Women Count”, the conference to be held September 16 and 17 at the Social Hall of Capitol, will be attended by the members of the Provincial Gender and Development Focal Point System and PGFPS Technical Working Group who have key roles in drafting the GAD Agenda, Plans and Budgets, and Programs, Projects and Activities.
Pavillar-Castro said the 31 GAD Focal Persons from component cities and municipalities, and selected sectoral leaders are also invited.
Board Member Rita Gatuslao of the 5th District, chair of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Women and Family, will speak during the opening program at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 16.
Invited to share their GAD data on the morning of September 16 are the Provincial Health Office, Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program; Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office; and the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office.
The Department of Education-Negros Occidental Division, Carlos Hilado State University, Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center, and the Provincial Environment and Management Office are slated to present in the afternoon.
A short open forum on Health, Social Services, VAW and Sectoral Concerns will be held after lunch, while the open forum on Education, Training, Livelihood and Gender and Bio-Diversity, will be held starting 4 p.m. on Sept. 16.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, chair of the PGFPS will address the conference attendees at 1:30 p.m. of September 17.
Prior to the governor’s talk, the Department of Interior and Local Government, Provincial Human Resource and Management Office, and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist will present their GAD data, followed by an open forum on Leadership, Decision-Making, Women’s Participation and Agricultural Concerns.
The Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Worker’s Welfare Administration were also invited to present their GAD data on the morning of Day 2.
A forum on OFW or Migrant Workers Situation and Issues will be held at 1 p.m. of Sept. 17, prior to the governor’s message.
