A 37-year-old man was arrested hours after he allegedly shot dead a 52-year-old resident following an argument in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1.
The Bacolod City police identified the victim as Roger Canciller Geneblazo, a resident of Purok St. Vincent, Brgy. Alijis.
Police identified the suspect only as alias “Budoy,” also a resident of the area.
Initial investigation showed that the victim and the suspect allegedly engaged in a heated argument at around 2 p.m. for a reason still being determined.
Police said the suspect then went toward his residence, obtained a firearm and allegedly shot Canciller several times.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries.
The suspect fled after the shooting, prompting Police Station 7 to launch hot-pursuit and dragnet operations.
Police apprehended him at around 6:30 p.m. in Gardenville Subdivision, Brgy. Tangub, about four and a half hours after the shooting.
BCPO said witnesses positively identified the suspect.
He remains under police custody while authorities complete their investigation and prepare the appropriate charges for filing in court.*
