The San Carlos City Sports Office opened the three-day 2nd 2021 Pintaflores Table Tennis Tournament at the City Sports Park on Oct. 29.
A total of 60 participating players will be playing under the categories 12 under boys and girls; 25-up boys and girls and 35-up mixed category boys and girls.
Participants were divided into 20 players per day to observe minimum health and safety protocols due to the ongoing pandemic.
Jesus Facundo Combate, Jr. Officer-In-Charge of the City Sports Office gave the inspirational message on behalf of City Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona.
Darwin Uy, an international table tennis coach and Region 6 coordinator, said he saw a lot of potential players who can compete in other tournaments.
He also said that four of them were already granted scholarships as varsity players of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City.
Uy was also thankful to San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona for their support to the sports program; hoped to hold an international tournament in the city someday through the help of Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
Also present during the event were Dennis Peñalosa, Futsal Coach and John Mark Cupang, President of San Carlos City Table Tennis Club who also made the ceremonial serve together with Combate and Uy.*
