RTWPB-6 sets public consultations on wage adjustments for October

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Western Visayas (RTWPB-6) will hold public hearings next month to discuss potential minimum wage adjustments for private sector workers and domestic workers, also known as kasambahay.

In a recent advisory, the wage board said the consultations will be on October 10 and 21.

The first hearing will be at Sam’s 21 Hotel on Diversion Road, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

The consultation for private sector workers will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the session for domestic workers from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This meeting will cover Iloilo City and the provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Guimaras.

The second consultation will be at the Social Hall of the Negros Provincial Capitol, Gatuslao St., Bacolod City.

The session for domestic workers will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by private sector workers from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The areas covered include Bacolod City and the province of Negros Occidental.

“These consultations aim to gather inputs from labor and management sectors, which will help the Wage Board in determining the need for a wage adjustment in Western Visayas,” the RTWPB-6 said.

Under the current Wage Order No. RBVI-27, approved on Nov. 16, 2023, the daily minimum wage in Western Visayas increased by P30.

Non-agriculture, industrial, and commercial establishments with over 10 employees now pay P480 daily, while those with 10 or fewer workers have a rate of P450.

Agricultural workers get P440 daily.

Wage Order No. RBVI-DW-05 granted domestic workers a monthly increase of P500, raising their minimum wage from P4,500 to P5,000, effective the same date.*PNA
