Residents of Barangay Zone 3 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, formed a bucket brigade to help extinguish a fire that broke out in Purok Greenshell on Monday night, Sept. 29.
Fire Officer 2 Aaron Lloyd Castro of the Talisay Bureau of Fire Protection said the blaze was triggered by a candle that had been lit during a power outage.
At the time of the incident, the homeowner was away driving an e-bike, leaving his 12- and 13-year-old daughters at home.
The children reportedly lit a candle, which sparked the fire that quickly spread through the house made of light materials.
Castro said the fire was purely accidental and commended the residents for their quick response in forming a water bucket brigade, which helped contain the flames.
No injuries or casualties were reported, while damages were estimated at P3,500.*
