PRO NIR launches ‘CAMPUSAYA’ to combat school violence

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) officially launched its school safety initiative, CAMPUSAYA, at Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Friday, Oct. 23..

The campaign aims to prevent school violence, address online threats, and foster a safe, supportive learning environment for students across the region.

The event was led by PRO NIR Regional Director PBGen, Rudecindo L. Reales and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) Provincial Director PCcol. Dennis C. Wenceslao.

They were joined by key education, police, and community leaders, including Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine D. Sales, NAPOLCOM Provincial Officer Kyle Xyra C. Valenzuela, school principal Dr. Marie Rose E. Pregua, parent-teacher representatives, local interfaith leaders, teachers, and students.

Derived from the phrase “Campus na Masaya,” CAMPUSAYA is a holistic anti-violence framework guided by the tagline “Resilient Minds. Kind Hearts. Zero Hate.”

The program focuses on early identification of warning signs, responsible threat reporting, enhanced campus security, and strong multi-sectoral collaboration among law enforcement, schools, families, and local communities, the PRO NIR said.

The initiative is structured around three core lines of effort: Resilient Minds (“Handa ang Isip”), which fosters mental awareness and early guidance; Peer Protection (“See Something. Hear Something. Say Something”), which encourages reporting bullying and online threats while discouraging the spread of alarming content; and Enhanced Campus Security (“Bantay Paaralan. Bantay Komunidad”), which strengthens joint emergency preparedness among barangays, local government units, and the police.

Reales, in his message, urged students to speak up against bullying and called on all community partners to take proactive measures in keeping schools secure.

“Let us turn our concern into action and our partnership into protection,” Reales  said.*
