PrimeWater, water suppliers given ultimatum to ink contracts

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has given Bacolod City Water District-PrimeWater and two bulk water suppliers an ultimatum to come up with acceptable contracts to hasten the solution to Bacolod’s water supply shortage.

“A gave them an ultimatum, I told them I want a signed agreement this week or next week,” Benitez said during a press conference Monday, February 12.

It was also agreed that to expedite the process the city government would purchase 15 MLD (millions of liters per day) of water from Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. and 5MLD in spring water from Barangay Alangilan that it will in turn supply to Primewater, he said.

The city government will not make money from the agreement it will just serve as the middleman to pass through the water, he said.*
