Police visibility, traffic alert up for opening of classes Monday

“I pray for an organized and a very welcoming start to the school year,” DepEd-Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet said Sunday, July 28.

Classes for school year 2024-25 start on Monday and Liobet said their schools are ready.

“We have prepared our schools through Brigada Eskwela and our mentors are now ready to implement the MATATAG Curriculum for Kinder, Grades 1, 4 and 7”, he said.

Teachers who will be teaching those levels have undergone trainings for the MATATAG Curriculum, Liobet said.

The MATATAG Curriculum aims to decongest the curriculum and resolve misplaced learning competencies from Kinder to Grade 10, the DepEd earlier said.

MATATAG stands for “Make the curriculum relevant to produce job-ready, Active and responsible citizens; TAke steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education services and provision facilities; TAke good care of learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusiveness learning, and positive learning environment; and, Give support for teachers to teach better.”

“I hope that our parents and other stakeholders shall likewise help our schools so that our learners can easily adjust to their classes,” Liobet said.

POLICE VISIBILITY
In Bacolod City the police are raising visibility near schools for the opening of classes, PCol. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, said.

The BCPO Traffic Enforcement Unit is also augmenting the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office in managing traffic, Coronica said.

Jose Antonio Robello, BTAO deputy chief, said “expect traffic delays in and around our schools. Give yourself plenty of time for travel taking into account traffic delays and the possibility of inclement weather.”*
