Police security readied for COC filing next week

The Police Regional Office-6 has directed all provincial and city police directors to closely coordinate with their respective election officers to plan deployment and security measures to ensure the peaceful filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) next week.

Police Regional Director, BGen. Jack Wanky, held a command conference on Tuesday to ensure their readiness for the upcoming filing of COCs on October 1 to 8 for the May 2025 polls.

The police directors must coordinate with the election officers to plan for specific and suitable deployment, and security measures based on the prevailing situation and peculiarity in their areas, Wanky said.

Wanky also told the police directors that the focus on the election preparations must not overshadow anti-criminality campaigns and anti-illegal drugs operations.

Among the security measures to be implemented are increased police visibility, checkpoints and intensified intelligence monitoring.

Wanky reminded the police to always uphold the law with high respect for human rights, to perform their duties professionally and to remain non-partisan.*
