Carbon: MBCCI finalist for top highly urbanized city chamber

The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the finalists for the most outstanding chamber in the highly urbanized cities category of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

MBCCI and four other chambers in the country were named finalists in that category, MBCCI Chief Executive Officer Frank Carbon said on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The Bacolod City government is also a Most Business Friendly-HUC finalist.

Carbon said that these recognitions from the PCCI are a double win for Bacolod as both the city government and the business sector are in sync when it comes to developing the city to be business-friendly.

He attributed the recognition of MBCCI to its partnership with the city government in addressing issues on solid waste and developing the Lacson Tourism Strip to increase economic activity.

MBCCI has a seat at the Solid Waste Council of Bacolod, which has created programs to address flooding in various barangays of the city, he said.

The city government has also responded to the call of the business sector to open Lacson Street for parking starting 7 p.m. every day and for the whole day during the weekends, he added.

Carbon said it increased the night income of the restaurants and hotels along Lacson Street, which is an indicator that the city government is responsive to the needs of the businesses to improve the local economy.

The Bacolod City government and MBCCI will make their final presentations on Oct. 4 in their bids to bag the PCCI awards during the 50th Philippine Business Summit Conference on Oct. 22 to 23, Carbon said.*
