La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Mangilimutan said she is seeking the help of the national government for permanent relocation sites for La Castellana residents no longer allowed to live or farm in the four-kilometer permanent danger zone of Kanlaon Volcano.
There were initially 200 families living in the danger zone but the number has dropped to about 100, she said on Wednesday, June 19.
There are about 3,000 evacuees in five evacuation centers in La Castellana who left their homes after the Kanlaon Volcano eruption on June 3 .
Mangilimutan said except for the evacuees from the permanent danger zone she is seeking advice on whether the rest can be allowed to go home.*
