Pedestrian dies, 2 motorcycle riders injured in Cadiz

A 58-year-old woman died while two motorcycle riders were injured after a motorcycle sideswiped her along the national highway in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday night, Aug. 13.

The Cadiz police identified the pedestrian only as “Inday,” a resident of Brgy. Tinampa-an.

The road incident happened at around 7:30 p.m., the police said.

Police investigation showed that a Bajaj CT 125 motorcycle driven by a 25-year-old man, with a 19-year-old back rider, was traveling from Manapla toward Cadiz City.

Upon reaching the area, the motorcycle allegedly sideswiped the woman while she was crossing the road.

The driver, back rider and pedestrian fell onto the pavement and sustained injuries on different parts of their bodies.

Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought them to the Cadiz District Hospital for medical treatment.

The pedestrian was later declared dead by the attending physician.

The motorcycle driver along with his vehicle was brought to the Cadiz police station for further investigation.*
