The Negros Occidental provincial government is staging the Panaad sa Negros Festival in March despite the threat of a Kanlaon Volcano eruption “to bring back the spirit of joy to our people”, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said on Thursday, Jan. 23.
“Even in darkness we need a little spark of light,” he said.
“We also want to celebrate the unity of the whole province and to showcase to the entire country what we can accomplish if we work together,” Diaz said.
The theme of this year’s Panaad sa Negros Festival at the Panaad Park and Sports Complex in Bacolod City on March 24 to 30 is “The Future is Now”, he said.
Diaz said the bidding for kiosks at the festival site will be conducted very soon.
The San Miguel Food Alley can accommodate about 128 tents, “we would like to give as many people the chance to participate and earn during the Panaad,” he said.
There will also be 17 kiosks at the canopy food alley, he added.
Diaz said they are preparing for big events with performers that are expected to draw huge crowds.*
