The Philippine Air Force will officially turn over a historic F-27 Fokker Aircraft already on display at Brgy. E. Lopez to Silay City, with the PAF commanding general expected to lead the ceremonies on Friday, January 26.
The PAF F-27 Aircraft served as a tactical airlift, reconnaissance, and a High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) platform that was assigned to the Presidential Airlift Wing in 1959.
It also became the official aircraft of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
When it was retired in 2022, it was one of the oldest aircraft in the PAF and was donated to Silay City.
The aircraft will be one of the main attractions at the proposed aviation park in Brgy. E. Lopez.
LtGen. Stephen Parreño, PAF commanding general, will be the guest of honor at the ceremonial turnover.
Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego, Air Mobility Commander, MGen. Joaannis Leonardi Dimaano, and other officials from the city and PAF are expected at the turnover rites.*
