P118M in projects approved

The Negros Occidental Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council approved P118 million worth of projects and activities to strengthen peace and order in the province at a meeting at the Capitol in Bacolod City, today.

Approved in Resolution 2020-003 was the P87 million proposed peace and order budget for various projects, programs and activities for endorsement to the Provincial Development Council for inclusion in the 2021 supplemental annual investment program (AIP).

These interventions are in support of the peace and order and anti-criminality efforts in the province, the resolution said.

Also approved was Resolution No. 2020-004 for P31.1 million in barangay infrastructure projects funded through the 2020 PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNan (PAMANA) of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process under a tripartite agreement between OPAPP, Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, for endorsement to the PDC for inclusion in the Supplemental AIP.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson presided over the meeting attended by Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, DILG OIC provincial head Evelyn Vista, and the council members.

Also present at the meeting were 303rd IB Commander, Col. Inocencio Pasaporte, and Negros Occ. Police Provincial Administrator, Police Col. Romy Palgue, who presented their agencies’ projects and accomplishments.

Other members of the council, including town and city mayors of the province, attended the meeting via Zoom.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency provincial office reported on the drug-cleared barangays, Board Member Juvy Pepello gave an update on the on-going programs and projects of the Liga ng mga Barangay, and the Provincial Health Office presented its COVID-19 updates.*
