The Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) Foundation sent 24,000 Mingo Meals to Naga that is experiencing its worst flood in 30 years on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
The Mingo Meals will be coursed through Angat Buhay, NVC president and CEO Millie Kilayko said.
They will be the distributed to children in evacuation centers.
Mingo is a nutritious instant complementary food made of rice, monggo and malunggay.
Each 20-gram sachet is about 80 calories and provides protein, fat, vitamins A, C, B1, B6, potassium, iron, calcium and zinc. It’s mixed with water which can just be at room temperature make a porridge or drink, Kilayko said.
In addition to its primary use for NVC’s and other nutrition programs for children, Mingo has been a handy and nutritious source of food in in disaster relief operations, she said.
Kilayko thanked all those sending support so that they can continue to send Mingo meals to aid the children of Naga and other areas.
“We will continue to ship more for Naga and other Bicol areas,” she said.
