Nuns thank donors for help, lab machine drive continues

The Servants of Mary, who care for underprivileged patients, are thanking those who responded to their appeal for help for much needed laboratory machines for their charity clinic in Purok St. Ezekiel Moreno, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City.

Sister Carmen Piña, superior of the community, thanked the persons who provided funds for the purchase of one of two machines they need, to conduct tests for their indigent patients in aid of their medical diagnosis.

“Thank you so much for your kindness, we assure you of our prayers. We give thanks for your generosity,” she said.

She also thanked Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya for informing his friend of their need. The friend provided a large donation towards the purchase of the first machine.

Charity diva Token Lizares, who is helping the Servants of Mary, said the nuns are still in need of more funds to buy a much needed second laboratory machine.

The nuns need P550,000 for blood chemistry and hematology analyzers and their reagents, and so far they have raised P200,000, she said.

Their current blood chemistry and hematology machines are obsolete and non-functional, which prevents them from providing laboratory services to those in need, Sister Carmen said.

“We are appealing to generous hearts to help our project that is in the best interest of the most vulnerable and deprived of the most basic necessities in their illness,” she said.

The Servants of Mary nuns devote their lives to caring for the poor who are sick.

Those who want to help may deposit their donations at RCBC account number 1421 176 899 of the Local Superior of Siervas de Maria, Lizares said.

Those who wish to inquire about the needs of the charity clinic’s laboratory may call Sister Carmen at 0915456111 or Lizares at 09164265580.*
