Philippine Army and New People’s Army troops are both helping villagers affected by the eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.
The PA and NPA, in separate statements, pledged to assist affected residents.
The NPA’s Leonardo Panaligan Command Central Negros Guerilla Front, in a press statement, said it has tasked all its militia units to serve the masses while observing an active defense amid the calamity.
The NPA also called on various organizations, including the Church and non-government organizations, to take steps to help the residents in Central Negros affected by the eruption.
The 62nd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army has been conducting Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations together with government and non-government organizations in the affected barangays of La Castellana and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental.*
