NOCPPO seizes P39M in illegal drugs in 2024

The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office seized P39 million worth of illegal drugs from January 1 to November 25, it reported on Sunday, Dec. 1.

It conducted 914 illegal drugs operations this year, compared to 762 in 2023, it said.

The 914 operations led to the arrest of 1,130 drug personalities, with 5,829 grams of shabu and 1,526 grams of marijuana worth more than P39 million seized.

In the campaign against loose firearms, 198 operations were conducted by NOCPPO this year compared to 146 last year.

The 198 operations resulted in the arrest of 205 individuals, confiscation of 226 firearms and the surrender of 848 assorted firearms, the NOCPPO reported.

In the campaign against illegal gambling, 737 operations were conducted this year compared to 627 operations last year.

These 737 operations led to the arrest of 2,401 individuals and confiscation of bet money amounting to P617,085, the NOCPPO also reported.

For the anti-illegal fishing operations, 251 were conducted by NOCPPO this year while 232 were conducted in 2023.

The 251 operations led to the arrest of 686 individuals, while more than P431,000 in fish and P11 million worth of fishing paraphernalia were confiscated.

In the campaign against illegal logging, 18 operations were conducted by NOCPPO this year which were double the number operations last year. The 18 operations led to the confiscation of nearly 5,500 board feet of lumber worth P299,755.

They also arrested 212 most wanted persons and 2,095 other wanted persons, the NOCPPO also reported.*
