There was no P1 billion loan that took place during his watch, former Silay mayor Mark Golez said on Sunday, Sept. 15.
He said during his second term as Silay mayor there were plans to avail of a loan for a government center.
However, what he asked the city council for was authority to negotiate, he did not seek authority to contract a loan.
So when he stepped down he did not leave the city government with a P1 billion debt,” Golez said.
The allegation being spread that the loan availed of under the administration of Mayor Joedith Gallego started during his time is not true, Golez said.
Gallego should not involve him, and just answer questions being raised about the loan he availed of for Silay in the proper forum, Golez said.
There is no paper trail that a P1 billion loan was made during his term, Golez stressed.
Golez is running against Gallego for mayor of Silay in 2025.*
