PRO NIR nets 2,708 drug arrests, P305M shabu seized in first year

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region recorded 2,708 drug-related arrests and seized more than P305 million worth of shabu in its first year of operations.

From March 27, 2025, to March 20, 2026, police conducted 2,281 anti-drug operations, confiscating about 44,997 grams of suspected shabu and nearly 13,000 grams of marijuana.

In the campaign against wanted persons, authorities arrested 3,841 individuals, including 693 most wanted persons.

Police also conducted 831 anti-illegal gambling operations, arresting 1,912 individuals and seizing more than P324,000 in bet money.

In the campaign against loose firearms, authorities carried out 56,914 operations, resulting in 374 arrests and the recovery or surrender of 1,601 firearms.

Operations against illegal fishing led to 657 arrests, while anti-smuggling efforts resulted in 85 arrests and the confiscation of more than P22 million worth of smuggled goods.

PRO NIR regional director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay said the accomplishments reflect the commitment of police personnel in maintaining peace and order across the region.

He added that operations will continue to intensify to ensure public safety and community security.*
