NIR among regions linked to ghost flood-control projects

The turnover 95 boxes of documents*

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group turned over 95 boxes of documents involving 28 alleged ghost flood-control and related projects to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure on Monday, 24.

CIDG, in a press release, said the alleged projects span seven regions, including the Negros Island Region.

The other regions are Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the National Capital Region.

Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. inspected all documents before the turnover to ensure they met the commission’s requirements.

He directed CIDG investigators to continue gathering evidence on infrastructure anomalies and to maintain an objective and impartial probe.

CIDG Acting Director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II said the documents represent only the initial batch of cases from the seven regions.

He said the group is completing its investigation into other questionable projects nationwide.

The inclusion of the Negros Island Region in the list places both Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental under review for possible similar irregularities.

The ICI is investigating the projects in line with Executive Order No. 94.*
