Negros officials pay tribute to former board member

Negros Occidental officials paid tribute to former board member David Lacson at rites held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, Thursday, December 16.

Lacson, 46, succumbed to COVID-19 on December 4.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said “David was a good public servant and was able to touch a lot of lives at a young age. He was loved by many and his brand of generosity will be missed.”

The United Negros Alliance (UNegA), in a resolution read by the party’s secretary general, Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, said Lacson was an honest and hardworking public servant.

Lacson, who was a pioneer member of UNegA, was also described as a loyal and dedicated supporter of the party.

The EB Magalona Sangguniang Bayan, in a resolution, said Lacson who served as a councilor, vice mayor and mayor of the town was “a genial, benevolent and caring leader to his constituents”.

His cousin Board Member Andrew Montelibano, also read the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution, which described Lacson as “a dedicated public servant who devoted his time and efforts to the implementation of programs and projects geared towards the betterment of his constituents.”

Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, and mayors Marxlen de la Cruz of Salvador Benedicto, Rhumyla Mangilimutan of La Castellana and Richard Jaojoco of Toboso also paid tribute to their friend and colleague.

The governor and vice governor turned over the Philippine flag and memorabilia to Lacson’s widow, Risa, in the presence of his mother Paz and sister Natalie Lacson.

His cousin former board member Patrick Lacson, who delivered the response for the family, thanked all those present for their kind words.

David Lacson left behind love, pride and honor for his family, his cousin said.*
