
The COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental dropped below the 2,000 level Sunday, April 25, while a Capitol employee tested positive for the virus after being infected by a job applicant.
The active COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental dropped to 1,909 on Sunday, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported.
The report also showed that local government units with three-digit COVID-19 active cases dropped to five, while Salvador Benedicto remained free of the deadly virus.
The five LGUs still with three-digit COVID-19 active cases are San Carlos City – 211, Murcia – 130, Himamaylan City – 127, Pontevedra – 110, and La Carlota City -101, the report added.
There were 122 COVID-19 patients in Negros Occidental who recovered Sunday, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.
Those who recovered in Himamaylan City were 43, San Carlos City – 38, Toboso – 15, Kabankalan City – 7, Cadiz City – 6, Sipalay City and Sagay City – 5 each, Valladolid – 2, and Bago City – 1, he said.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Human Resource Management Office that was closed Thursday, April 22, for disinfection will reopen Monday, April 26, he added.
This was after a job applicant who was swabbed and was waiting for her COVID-19 test results, violated health protocols and went to the PHRMO to take a test on April 20, Diaz said.
She was declared positive for COVID-19 April 21, and as a result the PHRMO staff who administered the exam tested positive on April 22, he said.
The PHRMO employee’s brother also tested positive and was isolated with her at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia, Diaz added.
The province will deny the application for employment of the COVID-positive applicant and ban her, Diaz said.*
