It’s all systems go.
The Negros Occidental provincial government is firming up partnerships through Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) for the holding of a Renewable Energy Week Expo 2025 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City from July 17 to 19.
The Expo will gather key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, the academe, civil society, power consumers and local communities to explore renewable energy solutions and innovations, a press release from Joshua Villalobos, Negrosanon Initiative for Climate and Environment (NICE) secretary general, said Friday, July 4.
To be showcased at the Expo are solar PV systems, battery storage options, electric vehicles/e-bikes, the lowdown on hydro-electric power plants, and even biogas generation and utilization, as well as energy efficiency and conservation measures, he said.
The Expo will feature an interactive exhibit hall, keynote talks, educational forums, and networking sessions, he added.
The Negros Occidental provincial government will host what is expected to be a major clean energy event in the Visayas this year, he said.
“Negros Occidental has been at the forefront of the clean energy movement, and this Expo reinforces our commitment,” Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said.
“Our multisectoral collaboration reflects our shared vision of a greener, more inclusive future for all Negrenses,” he said.
“This initiative reflects our collaborative approach in forging a cleaner and power-secure future for Negrenses,” Rafael Coscolluela, provincial consultant on energy and environment concerns, also said.
The expo is being held in partnership with the Department of Energy, NICE and the Negros Women of Tomorrow Foundation.*
