NegOcc, Bacolod, 9 other LGUs pass 2023 good governance seal

Negros Occidental, Bacolod City and nine other local government units in the province passed the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced Saturday, Dec. 2.

“We laud your efforts in embodying good governance and raising the bar of excellence in public service,” the DILG in Western Visayas told the passers.

The nine other passers were the cities of Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, Sagay, San Carlos, Talisay and Victorias, and the municipalities of La Castellana and Manapla.

The SGLG is a recognition given by the DILG to local government units that have demonstrated outstanding performance in various areas of governance.

The SGLG is also a requirement for a local government unit to grant Performance-Based Bonuses to its employees.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez thanked the Bacolod City government department heads and employees for their contributions to the city’s passing the SGLG.

The next target is to ensure that all 61 barangay local government units of Bacolod pass the SGLG, he said.*
