Negros Island Region is 75.38 percent cleared from illegal drugs, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Siquijor is 100 percent drug cleared, followed by Negros Occidental at 87.69 percent, Negros Oriental – 60.50 percent, and Bacolod City – 36.06 percent, the PDEA report said.
The report was presented at the joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and Provincial Development Council (PDC) at the Capitol in Bacolod City, presided over by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
The PDEA said that of the 601 barangays in the 31 local government units in Negros Occidental, 515 have been drug cleared and 12 are drug free.
There are 74 more barangays that need to be cleared of drugs, or 12.31 percent, it said.
The 17 LGUs in Negros Occidental that are drug cleared are Bago City, Candoni, Don Salvador Benedicto, E.B. Magalona, Hinigaran, Hinoba-an, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Silay City, Sipalay City, Toboso, Valladolid, and Victorias City.*
