MPadilla holds unity walk, peace covenant signing

Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, led candidates for the 2025 midterm election this May in a unity walk and signing of a peace covenant on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Garcia-Yulo who is running for re-election for a third term was joined by her husband, Felix Matias Segundo Feria Yulo III – her vice mayoralty candidate and her line up for councilors, a press release from Moises Padilla said on Monday, Feb. 10.

Also present was Vice Mayor Adrian Villaflor who is running for mayor.

The event was initiated by the Philippine National Police in coordination with the Commission on Elections, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine Army, the local government of Moises Padilla, and various religious groups.

The activity started with a Unity Walk from the PNP station to the municipal auditorium, followed by an Inter-Faith Prayer and the signing of the Peace Covenant, in which election candidates took part.

By signing the covenant, the candidates pledged to uphold the following:

· Follow the law and abide by the Constitution, election laws, and COMELEC regulations;

· Campaign fairly, present their platforms, and avoid personal attacks;

· Ensure clean and transparent elections by rejecting vote-buying, fraud, and intimidation;

· Take responsibility for the actions of their campaign teams; and

· Accept the election results with integrity and full respect for the people’s decision.*
