Motorcyclist dies after crashing into road sign in Kabankalan

A 42-year-old construction worker died after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a roadside traffic sign in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday night, Aug. 1.

The Kabankalan police said the crash happened at around 8 p.m. along a curved section of the road in Purok Plasanon, Brgy. Salong.

Initial investigation showed that a resident living near the area heard a loud crashing sound and went outside with her son to check.

They found a motorcycle that had collided with a roadside traffic sign and recognized the driver as a former construction worker who had previously worked for them.

The resident immediately sought assistance from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The victim and his passenger were brought to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital for treatment.

However, the driver was declared dead by the attending physician.

The passenger survived the crash and remains confined at the hospital.*
