Mobile medical services program launched in NegOcc 3rd District

Riverside Medical Center Inc., in partnership with the office of Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez (Neg. Occ.,3rd District), launched the “Ikaayong Lawas On Wheels: Serbisyo Mediko sa Tersero Distrito” on Monday,  March 2.

This mobile medical services program aims to serve 115 barangays across the Third Legislative District of Negros Occidental, a press release from the office of Benitez said.

Developed by Riverside Medical Center in coordination with the congressional office, the initiative is designed to support local barangay engagement by delivering healthcare directly to residents in geographically isolated areas.

The program specifically prioritizes vulnerable sectors, including senior citizens, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, and indigent families.

The project seeks to eliminate significant barriers such as limited transportation and financial constraints by bringing essential medical services into the heart of each community, the press release said.

Medical teams are scheduled to visit one Local Government Unit (LGU) per week, with all services conducted exclusively on Mondays throughout the implementation period.

To ensure efficient coverage of each LGU, the program will serve between one to seven barangays during each scheduled visit.

Beneficiaries will receive a comprehensive health package that includes blood tests for FBS, cholesterol, and creatinine, along with CBC, chest X-rays, and ECGs.

This program aligns with the Universal Health Care Act by emphasizing primary care and early disease detection at the barangay level.

Staff will also  identify and refer financially incapacitated patients to the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIPP) support system.

This strategic referral process is intended to help reduce congestion in regional hospitals and rural health units.

By providing localized education and screenings, the initiative ultimately seeks to improve community health outcomes and encourage better health-seeking behavior among residents.*
