Mayor Salvador Escalante said he is leaving the investigation on the alleged presence of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) operatives in Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, to the police and Army.
Escalante was reacting to reports on Wednesday, March 20, that alleged MILF members were collecting P10,000 recruitment fees in exchange for monthly salaries of P40,000 for recruits who pass their training.
“I entrust everything to our local authorities – the police and the Army- to handle the validation as to the veracity of the information” on the alleged presence MNLF operatives, Escalante said.
“Rest assured that the city government will give its full support to whatever moves the authorities will take,” he said.
He said as of this time there is no cause to panic, Cadiz remains very peaceful, Escalante said.*
