Six Negros Occidental barangays were recognized for having the Best Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children in 2023 during the first quarterly meeting of the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children at the Negros Residences in Bacolod City on Wednesday, March 20.
In the city category, Brgy. Pinaguinpuinan of Kabankalan City was in first place, Brgy. Zone 6 in Cadiz City – 2nd place , and Brgy. 13 in Victorias City – 3rd place.
Brgy. Culipapa in Hinoba-an was declared first place winner, with Brgy. 2 in Isabela and Brgy. Igmaya-an in Don Salvador Benedicto in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
The first quarter meeting of the council was led by PCPC Chairman and Neg. Occ. Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson together with various public and private stakeholders.
The council discussed updates on the 2023 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) – Knowledge Management System, as well as the status of the ongoing projects and plans for 2024.
Present at the meeting were Negros Occ. Board Members Rita Gatuslao, Mayvelyn Madrid, and Richard Juluis Sablan, DILG Negros Occ. Provincial Director Teodora Sumagaysay, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Chiqui Gonzales, among others.*
