A man was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while walking along a street in Purok Calumpang, Brgy. 1, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday night, Aug. 11.
Police identified the victim as “Jr”, a resident of St. John Subdivision in Brgy. 1.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was walking along the street when an unidentified person allegedly shot him three times.
He sustained gunshot wounds to the right temple, right cheek and left chest.
The assailant fled toward an unknown direction after the shooting.
Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rushed Auman to the San Carlos City Hospital for medical attention.
Police recovered three empty cartridge cases of still undetermined caliber and one heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu from the crime scene.
Authorities have not established whether the suspected illegal drugs were connected to the victim or the killing.
Neighboring police stations were alerted to conduct dragnet operations, while investigators processed the crime scene and gathered additional evidence that could help identify the gunman.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive and locate the suspect.*
