A man drowned while swimming at a beach in Purok Talisay, Brgy. Bulanon, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Sunday, Oct. 19.
The victim, who was with three minors, went swimming at the beach. He failed to resurface after jumping into the water, the police said.
His companions immediately sought help, and the victim was retrieved by his uncle.
Responding City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office personnel administered first aid and attempted to revive him, but he remained unresponsive.
He was later declared dead by the attending physician at Lopez District Farmers’ Hospital.
According to his family, the victim was known to be a strong swimmer, and investigators believe that muscle cramps may have caused the drowning.*
