The Philippine National Police will suspend permits to carry firearms in Bacolod City during the 30th Panaad sa Negros Festival.
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region said the suspension will take effect from April 13 to April 19, covering the entire duration of the festival.
The Panaad is the annual festival of the Negros Occidental held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City. It showcases the festivals, talents and products of Negros Occidental’s 31 towns and cities, including Bacolod City.
Only members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other law enforcement agencies on official duty and in uniform will be allowed to carry firearms in Bacolod City during the gun ban period, the PNP NIR said.
Police said the move aims to ensure public safety and prevent potential threats as thousands of visitors are expected to attend the event.
Intensified security measures, including checkpoints and mobile patrols, will be implemented across the city.
Authorities also urged the public to comply with the directive and report any suspicious activities.
Police said the measure is part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration of the Panaad Festival.*
