The soft opening of the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia on Wednesday, December 1, shows the firm resolved of the Negros Occidental provincial government to gain ground in its recovery efforts for the tourism industry, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said.
“As we try to reopen our tourism, albeit cautiously, let it be known , than in doing so, safety will remain to be the paramount criteria in all of our decisions, for even though we are moving on, we are still in the midst of a pandemic,” Lacson said in his speech.
Even before the Ishiwata Bath House was built in Mambukal in 1927, Mambukal has been a weekend getaway for provincial officials and guests, making Mambukal an almost 100 year old attraction, he said.
“For the generation who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, Mambukal is the classic and the “go to” destination for family outings and celebrations. For the Baby Boomers and Generation X , Mambukal will always be a part of our nostalgic childhood and youth. As of late, Mambukal was a healing refuge for Negrenses, particularly our employees and their families. Mambukal is truly a lot of things for the Negrenses,” he said.
Mambukal “is not just a geophysical – landscape attraction but also an ecological-biological, cultural-historical and a recreational attraction. With these strengths, Mambukal is indeed a powerhouse asset for Negros Occidental’s tourism,” he said.
“These are extraordinary times and extraordinary efforts have to be put in to help alleviate the setbacks of this global crisis. Let us commit to work together to support the inclusive and sustainable recovery of the Negros Occidental tourism industry,” Lacson said.
