The Land Transportation Office Negros Island Region (LTO NIR) served a show cause order against the registered owner of a vehicle allegedly involved in a viral garbage-dumping incident in Bacolod City.
The LTO-NIR said the order was served by its Intelligence and Investigation Unit at Kametal Road, Brgy. Bata, 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
The case stemmed from a viral video showing the alleged unlawful dumping of garbage at the reclamation area.
LTO-NIR said the registered owner of the vehicle was issued the order for possible violations of environmental laws, rules, regulations, and local ordinances.
The respondent was not present during the service of the order, but it was received by a family member at the address.
Authorities said the contents of the show cause order were explained, and the service was carried out peacefully.
LTO-NIR reminded motorists and vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are not used in activities that violate laws and local ordinances.*
